“Emerging VC back-office complexity is a hell of a thing. The problem for most new managers is that there is an absence of what 'good' looks like when selecting fund admin, tax, and audit partners.” -Eric Bahn, The Hustle Fund
Emerging VC Fund Service & Tech Stacks
We help VC funds build finance & operations so they can focus on investing in great companies. Every VC fund needs the right “stack.” One of the most frequent questions we get is “what should my service provider and tech stack look like?” or “what service / technology do you recommend for XYZ?”
We’ve written about this previously in posts like the #23-Point Fund Launch Checklist (3.0). Others have written about this as well, including groups we’ve featured such as Signature Block (Should I start a fund? The Basics).
Recently, I found another great article “Data-driven VC #24: An Emerging VC's Tech Stack.” The article featured insights from Will Bricker from Hustle Fund, a pre-seed VC fund in the US. They did a great job visually of showcasing their tech stack:

I'll add another to the list for the center of the Venn diagram. Cinch (https://www.getcinch.io/) is a "Swiss Army knife" for emerging VCs, angels, FOs, and established VCs. Investors can use it to source deals, provide a smart landing page that offers analytics on startup fundability (rather than a a static Typeform page), have a standardized framework for all startup due diligence, communicate with founders, manage portfolios, track & store documents, and more. And that's just on the "investor" side of Cinch. (The "founder" side offers a whole separate productivity suite to make startup fundraising and investor management seamless.) It basically takes the core functions of Crunchbase, Docsend, Airtable, Carta, Slack, Box & Notion; filters them all through a layer of data analytics to give objective feedback on specific metrics relating to startup strengths and weaknesses; and packages them in a single, easy-to-use platform, so investors can conceivably do all of their due diligence, investing, and deal management on a single a single platform.
